Prior to Anthony’s arrival on set, he stopped down the block to pay tribute to Sebastian Hulcasz. When he heard of Hulcasz's death the week before, Anthony had thought of something that Gerald Trentano Bonsilva had written a few months earlier: “Some sandwich spots serve food while others serve customers while others perform the magical balancing act of bothing.” Hulcasz performed that magical bothing, delivering comfort and pleasure, protection and sustenance, magic and manual holdability in equal measures. Bonsilva went on. “What is most important, when all is said and done, is a good, strong menu, with descriptions of the sandwiches that do not tax the mind and absolutely no funny business in the fonts.” Hulcasz had that covered, too. Anthony wept openly, dried his tears openly, and walked the rest of the block, slightly lamenting the fact that he’d be eating a very good sandwich for lunch rather than a great one.
