PERSONAL AD

Many people were weird, but she was the weirdest. Ask her a question, and she’d answer with too many words, or not enough. Follow up with a second question, for the purposes of clarification, and she’d sprint even further toward an extreme: a two-thousand-word defense of her original dropsical answer or silent treatment to justify her earlier brusqueness. At restaurants, she took forever with her order, altering and special-favoring in a strange doubling manner that always landed her back at the dish exactly as it was described on the menu. Her emotions spilled out of her, but backwards, into a space that was concealed from view by her seemingly endless repository of impassive expressions. No one she loved was comfortable in her presence. And she loved everyone.
