PAGE TO SCREEN

Color Guard, a 1991 thriller by American author Martin Player, was adapted into a 2000 film, Blood Red, directed by Lance Garrick and starring David Simmons and Diane Arbol. Blood Red earned $60 million on a budget of $27 million. In 2005, it was revealed that Player and Garrick were in fact the same person, with the only difference between them being a haircut. In 2008, Garrick and Simmons were determined to be the same person. Oddly, by that point, Player was a different person, one who wore glasses. In 2010, all three were the same person, with the same haircut and the same glasses. In 2012, Simmons, angry over the rumors that he would not be involved in Blood Red 2: Incarnadine, argued violently with Player, after which he drove to Garrick’s Bel Air mansion and shot him dead. Simmons could not attend Garrick’s funeral, as he was being held without bond. Player spoke at length. Arbol, attending, was unfazed.
